Pause for Hope Ecumenical service for anyone affected by cancer
The Pause for Hope service is open to all who have in any way been affected by cancer.
The Speaker at this event is Fiona Castle OBE, (widow of Roy Castle). This lady is a wonderful and eloquent orator and will speak on the emotional aspect of dealing with cancer.
This organisation was founded in 1999 by Professor Ray Donnelly MBE who is a retired surgeon who in 1990 founded a cancer charity which became the Roy Castle Lung Foundation.
Pause for Hope works : to bring together in prayer those affected by all forms of cancer, their loved ones and carers: to remember dear ones lost to cancer: to pray for those with responsibility for providing and allocating resources required in the investigation., treatment and care of patients with cancer.
The service is open to all dominations and faiths as well as those of little or no religious faith. Everyone present will have the opportunity to light a candle in memory of a loved one. A Prayer card/book mark will be available to take home . Prayers will be read by representatives of various organisations involved with cancer, these will be intermingled with hymns and songs by Ribble Valley Choir.
No ticket required - a free event. Commences at 3.00 pm for approximately one hour and will be followed by Tea and biscuits.
