Holy Communion with Renaissance Music

Holy Communion with Renaissance Music

Holy Communion with Renaissance Music

There will be a very special Holy Communion service in Wingfield Church at 11.00am on 10 October 2021, with a choir singing a setting of the Eucharist composed by Josquin des Prez who died 500 years ago.

Members of The Amici Choir, led by Adrian Knott, will be singing Josquin’s Missa Pange Lingua. The starting point is the music of a medieval hymn, which itself is thought to be based on a Roman marching song.

Revd John McCracken commented “This is an opportunity to experience some of the most famous Renaissance church music in its liturgical context. It is only recently that choirs have been allowed to practise again, so it is particularly joyous to be able to include this celebration of religious music in our worship. You would be most welcome to St Andrew’s Wingfield as we mark the return of church music with some that has truly stood the test of time.”
11am to 12 noon. Free entry.
