Morgan Giles Exhibition
The exhibition celebrates the life and work of F. Morgan-Giles and his wife Ivy Carus-Wilson at Teignmouth and Shaldon in South Devon.
He opened his boatbuilding business in Teignmouth in 1920 and launched his first boat there in 1921.
His company became internationally famous for their design and craftsmanship.
They produced beautifully made wooden boats and yachts in the 1920s and 1930s which won many sailing prizes.
During the war years and after, the company built over 100 naval vessels, and later in the 1950s luxury motor cruisers.
Sadly the firm closed in the mid-1960s but some of these boats survive today.
