Relations, Stories, Magic A Solo Exhibition by Robert Fitzmaurice
A collection of awe-inspiring paintings are about to land at Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery!
In this solo exhibition of paintings and ceramics Robert Fitzmaurice will present a new body of work inspired by objects selected from the museum’s collection. He was born in Nuneaton in 1960 and during his youth the family would visit the museum most weekends. Following on from his early encounters with art his interest in figurative conventions across cultures deepened through travels in India and the Far East. Employing grid-like relationships of colour and form the artworks look back, forward and sideways to reference childhood memories, local history, and stories from other lands.
Beautiful ceramics will be available to buy alongside vibrant cards in our shop. All works on show in the exhibition are available to purchase by cash or cheque.
Alongside the exhibition we will be hosting a very special Lunchtime talk on Thursday 13 January, 2pm - 3pm where the writer and curator Tess Charnley discusses the exhibition ‘Relations, Stories, Magic’ with artist Robert Fitzmaurice, plus insights into the collection from museum curator Liz Taylor. Spaces are limited so please call 024 7637 6158
or email museum@nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk to book your space today.
