Online Talk: Wildlife and Womanhood: Louise Veness and Trans Life in W
Louise Veness was one half of a couple who ran a famous wildlife rescue hospital in Newbury. During this time, she featured in many newspaper reports on both the hospital’s work and on her gender transition. This Zoom talk will explore how a Newbury trans woman made headlines between the 1970s and 1990s and how best we can remember and celebrate her life and work.
The speaker Jo Brydon is a MPhil/PhD student in history at Birkbeck College, London. This Talking History talk ties-in with LGBT+ History Month (1-28 February 2022).
