Ilmington Gardens - Open Garden for NGS
Ilmington is an ancient hillside Cotswold village 2m from the Fosse Way with two good pubs. Start at Ilmington Manor (next to the Red Lion Pub); wander the 3 acre gardens with fish pond. Then walk to the upper green behind the village hall to Foxcote Hill's large gardens and Old Fox House, then up Grump St to Ravenscrofts large sculpture filled sloping vistas commanding the hilltop. Walk to nearby Frog Lane, view cottage gardens of Cherry Orchard and Frog Orchard. Then to the Bevingtons many-chambered cottage garden at the bottom of Valanders Lane near the church and manor ponds and beyond to the Dower House in Back Street.
Sat 28, Sun 29 May (12.30-6). Combined adm £10, Children free. Home-made teas in Ilmington Community Shop, Upper Green (Sat) & at the Village Hall (Sun). Times:12:30 to 18:00. Open for charity.
