The Smithy - Open Garden for NGS
Architect-designed small oasis of calm in the town centre, subliminally inspired by Geoff Hamilton. Created from a sloping lawn into terraces, following the party walls of former houses on the site, demolished into themselves in 1930s - hence the garden is elevated above Church St. Herbaceous borders, wildlife pond, octagonal greenhouse, raised vegetable beds. Alliums in June; sweet peas in July.
Sat 4 June (10-6); Mon 6 June (2-8); Fri 22 July (10-6). Admission £3.50, Children free. Times:10:00 to 18:00. Open for charity.
