The Deep Blue Sea
The Deep Blue Sea
Rattigan was at the height of his powers when he wrote this, his most enduring work. First performed in 1952, The Deep Blue Sea is a tragic love story with genuine emotional resonance.
Set over the course of a day, the play begins with the discovery of Hester Collyer after a suicide attempt as her failed marriage to a High Court Judge and affair with a semi-alcoholic RAF pilot start to surface.
