Best Days of Our Life - Shalamar & Shakatak live in concert!

If you were a regular on the South London / Suburban Soul Scene in the late 70’s to mid 80’s then an absolute ‘must see’ show has just been announced for Fairfield Hall Croydon – the setting for many soul concerts in the period for Saturday 18th June 2022
2 of the most popular Jazz Funk & Soul bands of the 80’s, SHALAMAR & SHAKATAK come to Fairfield Halls for a special one-off concert - additionally as both bands enjoyed their biggest success chart wise in 1982 this event could be rightly billed as a ‘40th Anniversary Celebration concert!’.

USA Soul Disco legends SHALAMAR feature 2 original member- Howard Hewett & Jeffrey Daniels who are now joined by Carolyn Griffey on female lead vocals., Carolyn has been with the band since 2002 and is the daughter of Dick Griffey, the man who created the band in 1977 and also produced the famous ‘Soul Train ‘ TV show.

Amazingly, this event on the 18th June will be the bands FIRST headline appearance at Fairfield’s since the tour in 1982! Howard Hewett & Jeffrey Daniel played Fairfield Halls back in November 82 as part of the incredibly successful ‘Friends’ album tour – an album that went onto sell over 1,000,000 copies in the UK alone!. Featuring the hit singles ‘A night to remember’, ‘Friends’, ‘I can make you feel good’ & ‘There It is’. Some 40 years later the band are still in demand – frequently headlining Soul Festivals across the UK in the summer months
Special guests on the night will UK Jazz Funk legends Shakatak – a name instantly familiar to those on the South London club circuit back in the early 80’s. In 1982 the band released their 2nd album ’ Night Birds, establishing the bands trademark jazz-funk sound, and containing two of the band's biggest hits, Easier Said than Done & Night Birds,
