Humberside Airport
SLHA Evening Lecture
Presented by Charles Parker
Between the two world wars, several civil airfields were established in the Humberside area but in the post-war period none of these were suitable for development. With the advent of the North Sea oil and gas industry and the construction of the Humber Bridge, there was a need for a modern airport to serve both banks of the Humber and the former RAF Kirmington was chosen. This talk looks at the development of the former bomber airfield into a modern international airport over the last fifty years; the different types of users, and how it has become much more than just a local airport
Admission £4.00, however SLHA members pay £3.00
