Thetford Voices Open Singing Workshops for 6 – 18year olds.
Sing, rehearse, perform, with a closing concert for guests, families and friends. All enthusiastic young singers are welcome, working with experienced leaders and a DBS-checked support team, Thetford Voices now in our fifteenth year.
This year’s theme of Journeys’ Ends means we shall be singing of both finishing and starting out on journeys, tasks and adventures of all kinds. Lord of the Rings and the voyage of the Mayflower are just two sources but we’ll draw on music from many places and many times in a variety of styles - folk, pop, show tune, ballad and anthem, round and part-song, composed for children, borrowed from grown-ups...
Our aim is to provide an enjoyable and satisfying experience for first timers and more experienced singers alike. We perform some numbers together but we also break into smaller groups so that songs are well matched across the 6 - 18 age range (and there is an additional session of mixed voice harmony for 15+ singers).
The unique course timing (the second day runs from 1-30 - 8.15) helps even the youngest to manage their energies and concentration over the two days and sign off with the jubilant closing performance that has been the feature of that fifteen year history of Thetford Voices.
So now we are looking for a new generation of young singers to join our regulars and help us refresh and reboot after the complications of the last couple of years. Come and join us! Give singing together a try!!
