Great & Small: Crafted Creatures

Great & Small: Crafted Creatures invites children and families to explore our age old fascination with creatures and animals through over 30 objects selected from the Crafts Council Collection.

Featuring works in clay, wood, metal, glass and textiles, the exhibition engages young minds with contemporary craft by introducing them to the many ways in which the natural world has inspired makers and the materials and techniques they have used to depict it.

Great & Small: Crafted Creatures brings together the work of significant makers including Richard Slee, Kate Malone, Susanna Heron, Howard Raybould, Sam Smith, Katharine Morling, Keith Brocklehurst, Rachael Howard, Ron King Circle Press, Robert Hadrill, Rosalind Perry, Laura Potter, Jill Crowley, and Angus Suttie.

Great & Small: Crafted Creatures is a beautifully designed exhibition, accompanied by a range of fun and interactive learning activities developed especially for families and young people to engage in the subject of craft. Children can discover the variety of ways we represent domestic and wild animals, and the various techniques used in contemporary craft-making.

About the Crafts Council
The Crafts Council is the national charity for craft. We believe craft skills and knowledge enrich and uplift us as individuals and can change our world for the better. Through our activities we inspire making, empower learning and nurture craft businesses. We do this by championing craft and its positive impact on society, increasing levels of craft education and participation, growing the market for craft, and by building a sustainable and inclusive craft sector.
