FREE Family Art Club at The Bureau

Family Art Club
A nature based art club with walks along, and inspiration from, the local canal.
Suitable for families with children 8+
Saturday afternoons from 1-5pm
Join us on Saturday afternoons to take part in a nature walk along the canal to take inspiration and collect ideas and natural materials to create wonderful works of art with a practicing artist at The Bureau Centre for the Arts.
Meet at The Bureau at 1pm. We will start each session with a walk of around 2 hrs led by Pete Compston, to explore a local stretch of the canal as a place of wonder- where all things can be collected- from sounds to imagery, either directly through collecting objects, or through inspiration.
The canal is a wonderful place to watch, to listen, to see, smell and touch. It is full of wildlife, old buildings and activity. We’ll be using the canal as a space for families to explore and use as inspiration for activity.
The walk will go ahead whatever the weather, so please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather and uneven and possibly muddy towpaths! Sorry- no dogs on the walks or at the art activity please.
The art and creative element of the sessions will take place at The Bureau Centre for the Arts, in our studio upstairs and be led by various local practitioners with an exciting range of creative activity from print-making to poetry and song-writing to sketching.
The Vegetarian/ Vegan cafe at The Bureau will be open on Saturdays 11-3pm so why not get some lunch first?
These sessions are free to attend and are funded by Super Slow Way, Canal and River's Trust and Sport England. Delivered in partnership with Super Slow Way, Common Ground and BwD re:fresh
