Music on the Meadows

Music on the Meadows promises a full day’s programme of free family entertainment on stage and across Torre Abbey Meadows. Running from 11am till 10.30pm, expect music through the decades of The Queen’s reign, featuring DJ sets from the McGowan Family and Chris McMeekhan and live music from the likes of South Devon Rock Choir, Funk City Band, John Matthew, the South Devon Rock Choir and Happy Days, with their spectacular Platinum Jubilee Show.

The musical entertainment will come to a magnificent close with very special headliners, The Bootleg Beatles, who have performed everywhere from The Cavern to Buckingham Palace and the Royal Albert Hall to Glastonbury Festival. People will also be given free (sustainable) flags to wave, giving the whole event a Last Night of the Proms-feel.
The event will also boast a Children’s Tent, with lots of fun family entertainment from the team behind Children’s Week. Doorsteps Arts will be on hand providing theatre entertainment, while there will be a family-friendly circus show called Do What Your Mama Told Yah, which promises to get very messy.

There will also be various walk-abouts, including Tall Will, the World’s Tallest Bubbleologist. The Scouts will also be running lots of traditional games including a Crockery Smash and Splat the Rat. There will also be face painting and glitter tattooing, as well as arts and crafts activities.

A variety of refreshments will be on sale throughout the event, so you will be able to enjoy everyone from a cup of tea and cake to a beer and a bite to eat. Music on the Meadows promises to be a right royal knees-up and a wonderful celebration of Her Majesty the Queen’s 70 Years of Service to the British people.
