Turn End Garden Sundays

Come and visit our glorious listed garden in the heart of the historic village of Haddenham. The garden is a jewel box of colours in mid May. The last tulips and peonies can still be flowering, and early roses beginning to bloom. Stars of the May garden are the bearded irises, with their showy, velvety flowers. Our beautifully scented wisteria may also be coming into bloom and our tender plants will be out on display. With limited ticket numbers, enjoy the quiet seclusion of the garden and the dappled shady areas. Perhaps bring a book or take time to explore our fascinating, variously-planted borders. Visit the studio of Artist in Residence Heather Hunter. Heather specialises in paper art, printing and artist’s books and often uses Turn End garden as a resource.

Turn End is renowned architect Peter Aldington's post-war family house and garden within the historic Buckinghamshire village of Haddenham

Turn End's garden, designed and made by Peter as a natural extension to Turn End house, grew with the buildings, maturing into an internationally renowned garden, gaining publicity through television programmes, and the many articles that have been written about it. In less than an acre, space is used to create an illusion of size - courtyards with pools, a small woodland around old apple trees, a curved glade leading to a series of garden rooms – sunken or raised, sunny or shady, geometric or informal. Turn End is one of only two post war examples where both the house and garden are listed by Historic England.

Please note, Turn End house is the private residence of Mr and Mrs Aldington. The house opens twice a year, on 28th May 2023 and again on Bank Holiday Monday, 28th August 2023. Tickets to the House and Garden Open Days are available via our website.
