Talk by Dr Wilson Wall: Introducing native orchids into your garden
Conservationist Dr Wilson Wall of Bewdley Orchids is giving an hour long talk at the Stonehouse Community Centre on Introducing Native Orchids into your Garden. Learn how to conserve wild orchids using your own garden.
Dr Wall is a foremost expert on UK native orchids. He is the co-author of How to Grow Native Orchids in Gardens Large and Small. He will be telling us about growing orchids in lawns, borders, and containers. Importantly, by growing orchids which haven’t been wrenched out of wild spaces, we actually do our bit to conserve these plants, as their numbers in the wild dwindle. Dr Wall is likely to bring some orchids for sale as well. He is determined to help our dwindling populations of native orchids. By selling their orchids, all of which his company have grown from seed, he hopes that new populations will be encouraged to grow and prosper.
The talk will be followed by a brief Q&A session and refreshments
