Belfast

Kenneth Branagh’s semi-autobiographical film about growing up during The Troubles in Northern Ireland. Although violence is always lurking in the background, this is primarily a film about the way people maintain their humanity - and humour. It’s a poignant story of love, laughter and loss in one boy’s childhood, amid the music and social tumult of the late 1960s. Judi Dench and Ciaran Hinds play Ken’s Grandparents (UK 2022)
