Ritratti: the music of Strozzi, Bembo & Leonarda
Musica Antica present a programme of songs, instrumental music and cantatas written by three of the most prolific female composers of the 17th Century: Barbara Strozzi, the most published female composer of the 17th Century, the virtuoso violinist and nun Isabella Leonarda and Antonia Bembo, who left Italy to join the service of the Sun King, Louis XIV.
This concert will be the first professional performance of Bembo's works in a new edition prepared by students at the University of Sheffield and released on the public domain.
As ever, home-infused gins, wine and beer will be available from the bar throughout the evening.
