Chelsworth Open Gardens

The villagers of Chelsworth have been opening their gardens to the public on the last Sunday in June, since 1967. Sadly, in common with so many other events, we had to cancel in 2020 and again last year; so we are delighted to say that Open Gardens is back for 2022!!

25 or more gardens will be open, all within a short stroll of each other. There will be plenty of free parking and entry to the gardens is by programme which can be obtained in the car parks.

The gardens vary from huge and formal to tiny cottage plots, including water gardens, walled gardens and butterfly meadows. There are tall stately delphiniums, abundant hollyhocks, fragrant roses, wild flowers and vegetable plots. All set against a tranquil backdrop of ancient timbered houses. Add all this to the beauty of the village itself with its picturesque river, and ancient bridge and you have the makings of a great family day out.

Light refreshments will be sold in some of the gardens or for a more substantial meal why not visit our lovely village pub, the Peacock Inn. Alternatively there are some lovely spots to picnic by the river or in our community woodland. Ice cream will be sold outside the Village Hall

There will be several stalls on the village green, including specialist plant stalls and the famous village produce stall will be opposite the pub. Other attractions include floral displays in the church where the recently refurbished organ will be played from time to time.

We love sharing our gardens and our village with our visitors on Open Gardens Day - do come to visit us. You will be very welcome.
