South Birmingham Sinfonia: Northern Lights: Grieg, Sibelius, Nielsen

South Birmingham Sinfonia return to Bournville for their first concert since lockdown, with Music Director, Sabrina Ko, and Leader, James Hamilton.

Featuring an exciting programme by Scandinavian composers, the 'Northern Lights' are:
- Edvard Grieg from Norway, Grieg's Symphonic Dances include lively melodies inspired by Norwegian folk music.
- Jean Sibelius from Finland, 'Finlandia' remains a powerful anthem for Finnish independence.
- Carl Nielsen from Denmark. His 2nd Symphony has four movements represents a different mood: choleric, phlegmatic, melancholic, and sanguine.

This concert is in support of Birmingham St Mary's Hospice.
