Newark Book Festival - Famous Songs Inspired by Literature

West End performers Glyn Kerslake (Phantom of the Opera – Her Majesty’s Theatre, Miss Saigon – Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Scrooge – London Palladium) and Elaine Glover (The Full Monty – Noel Coward Theatre, Emmerdale – ITV, Christmas With The Stars – Royal Albert Hall) bring this wonderful evening of music to Newark Town Hall! Performing a huge selection of hits that take their inspiration from literature – from Kate Bush’s infamous ‘Wuthering Heights’, ‘White Rabbit’ by Jefferson Airplane, (based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland) to showstoppers from Victor Hugo’s epic novel-turned-musical ‘Les Misérables’. Other musicals they will be performing songs from include Oliver!, Mary Poppins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, West Side Story and many more. Glyn is also an accomplished pianist and will be both musical director and arranger for the evening.

The evening will be hosted by John Florance (BBC Radio Leicester).
