Angels
Angels - Messengers, Warriors, Guardians, portrayed through music from Weelkes to Whitacre.
This concert by Temenos Chamber Choir, conducted by Patrick Craig, will explore music inspired by angels, from the Archangel Gabriel at the Annunciation, to the Archangel Michael at war, from the late 15th century to the present time.
Christmas angels appear in Sweelinck's glorious setting of Hodie Christus natus est, warring angels in Dering's Factum est Silentium, and shimmering angels in Eric Whitacre's Sainte Chapelle. There's also a chance for a bit of audience participation, in Judith Weir's My Guardian Angel.
The heavenly theme will continue with harp solos from Claire Richardson and Patrick Craig.
