Splash Mob! A Spontaneous Exhibition
Experience a unique concept that takes impromptu group art exhibitions to a new level.
Taking inspiration from the Flash Mob phenomenon that sees spontaneous gatherings organised secretively and with short notice, West Acre Gallery’s unique take on the concept could quite possibly be pioneering.
Flash Mobs have been harnessed across the world in the form of choreographed performance art, campaigns and protest, but is this the first time a public group exhibition has been conceived, coordinated and carried out all within one week?
When it comes to art the element of surprise never fails to entice or excite. And so the Splash Mob was born.
The gallery’s Splash Mob was set in motion on May 31, 2022, with a social media shout out and email ‘open call’. Messages were sent to interested parties signed on to West Acre Gallery’s newsletter with instructions given to convene at the gallery on Tuesday 7 June between 12-3pm.
Artists and their works began to appear, and within just a few hours the exhibition was assembled and ready for public consumption, featuring 21 artists with 73 items on display.
Immerse yourself in this eclectic, spur-of the-moment showcase over the course of four days. Perhaps the first of many Splash Mobs in West Acre and beyond!
