Medieval Murder mystery
Searching for effective means to combat encroaching royal power and preserve Bury’s much-vaunted liberties, Samson of Bury seized on a divisive issue and identified a martyred child victim. By fanning local fears with a dramatic courtroom performance, he divided a previously integrated community and propelled himself to elected office. In this talk, Dr E. M. Rose examines an intriguing medieval murder mystery and the power politics behind it.
