Jubilee Celebration Concert
Join us at our Jubilee Celebration Concert on Friday, 8th July, 2022,
in honour of Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign.
Featuring the legendary Houghton Weavers, the wonderful Tommy Cannon (of Cannon and Ball fame) and the spellbinding Chorley Cakes Folk Ceilidh Band, and compèred by the splendid John Gillmore, from BBC Radio Lancashire.
The Houghton Weavers guarantee a wonderful evening of song and humour. Their experience in the business together with their style and professionalism ensures that, as their motto says, they will always “KEEP FOLK SMILING”.
With a combination of story-telling, reminiscences, film clips and good old-fashioned fun and entertainment, Tommy Cannon brings his charm and skill to the stage in a way that draws in his audience and reminds us that he is still one of the best entertainers in the business.
The Chorley Cakes Folk are a brilliant Ceilidh Band who will be opening the show with their foot-tapping and spellbinding folk music. Their music comes from many centuries and countries, but is drawn predominantly from the British Isles.
During his many years as afternoon presenter on BBC Radio Lancashire, outside broadcasts were a major part of John Gillmore's (Gilly) show – shining the spotlight on the good things happening in the county and the great people making the world a better place. Gilly is also the celebrities’ “go-to” guy, when they want an interview. If they’re famous, chances are Gilly has chatted to them! We are delighted he will be compèring our show.
For a relaxed and fun evening of good old-style entertainment, join us at the stunning new Coley's Bar at Accrington Stanley Football Club, on 8th July.
