Drum Birthing Demonstrations

Come and experience drum birthing living history demonstrations by Bear Number 9 at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village.

Our ancestors drummed to celebrate and commemorate, in times of transition, sorrow or joy.

Join Bear number 9 as they demonstrate the processes of preparing and making sacred drums in the Saxon-Village throughout the week.

Daily (Monday 8 – Friday 12 August) - 12pm-2pm
See how to transform fresh deer hide into raw hide by soaking, scraping, stretching and drying.

Daily (Monday 8 – Friday 12 August) - 3pm-4pm
Public drumming session in the Main Hall
Take part in a group drumming session and see for yourself how the drum touches both heart and mind.

Suitable for all ages and abilities. No experience needed.

Parking fee: £3 for the day

This project is being delivered by West Stow as part of the Brecks Fen Edge & Rivers Landscape Partnership Scheme supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (visit The Brecks website - brecks.org/ for more information or events).
