RECITAL with soprano Kate Royal (DORSET OPERA FESTIVAL)

Internationally acclaimed soprano Kate Royal performs a selection of 24 beautiful songs in a reflection on the poem A Day (I’ll tell you how the sun rose) by U.S. poet Emily Dickinson. Songs include those by Mahler, Liszt Vaughan Williams, Britten, Schumann and more.

Kate is accompanied by pianist Joseph Middleton, ‘one of the brightest stars in the world of song and Lieder (BBC Music Magazine) and recipient of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Artist of the Year Award in 2017.

The performance describes sunrise and sunset as seen through the eyes of an innocent and confident child, with metaphors of transition from life to death. It’s a life-affirming and thought-provoking journey and we are delighted that Kate, who originally hails from Dorset, will perform this work at Dorset Opera Festival.

This recital forms part of the Dorset Opera Festival 2022 which this year also brings you Mozart's The Magic Flute and Puccini's Manon Lescaut (see separate listings or our website dorsetopera.com).

The Dorset Opera Festival attracts audiences from across the UK and far beyond who return year on year. We actively encourage those who are still to discover the joys of opera, offering some £10 tickets to those under 25.
