Basingstoke Walk for Climate and Nature and Picnic

The climate campaign group Greener Basingstoke (www.greenerbasingstoke.org) is organising a walk through Basingstoke Centre for Climate and Nature on Saturday July 16 at 11am. The aim of the walk is to highlight that it’s been three years since the Basingstoke Council supported the motion to declare a climate emergency in July 2019.

The walk is to raise awareness of the need for urgent action to reduce emissions and protect nature across Basingstoke. We are also asking the council to take rapid action to meet their Net Zero carbon objectives. This will will be a fun and family friendly community walk followed by a picnic and games in the Memorial Park.

The route we are taking goes through the Malls and up to the Top Of Town, across to the council offices and then on to the War Memorial Park. Before entering the park, the group will go via the Council Offices to post a letter to the Council requesting action as part of the walk.

At the end of the walk people will be invited to stay for picnic and games in the park – this will probably be at around 12.30. Don't forget to bring your picnic with you on the day.
The walk starts at 11.00AM outside Basingstoke Train Station. Please arrive early for the customary walk health and safety instructions before we set off.
