Battle of Evesham

Battle of Evesham

Step back in time with us to the 13th Century when the Battle of Evesham is brought to life on the 6 & 7 August 2022. The free to attend event, takes place in the Heart of Evesham, featuring a medieval festival and camp with life-demonstrations of cookery, weapons and medicine, plus the main battle re-enactment.

The action-packed weekend will include hundreds of re-enactors fighting ‘to the death’ on Saturday and Sunday. The Battle of Evesham Grand Parade, with mounted knights in full armor will wind its way through the town the Saturday (6th Aug). On Evesham’s Crown Meadow, visitors can watch medieval musicians and dancing at the camp, along with craftsmen demonstrations and medieval cookery.

In addition, next to the camp, there will be falconry and equestrian displays, treasure trails and children’s activities. Various stalls and food outlets will be selling a range of dishes and snacks plus there will be a licenced bar.

The Battle itself was fought on 4 August 1265, 50 years after the Magna Carta between Prince Edward and Simon de Montfort. It was political, personal and bloody! The Prince wanted to free his father King Henry III and take revenge on a man who is credited with starting the first Parliament.
Free to enter but with a voluntary donation of £2 per person towards the cost of running the festival.
Car Parking available on Crown Meadow at a cost of £5 per car all day.
The opening Grand Parade on Saturday 6th August at 10am. Festival open both Saturday and Sunday 10am till 5pm - see website for more information.
