Come and support the local Village Show this September, Virginia Water’s longest-standing community event.
The Show is in its 68th year and, from ‘oddest shaped vegetable’ to handmade greeting cards; photographs to flower arrangements, Victoria sponges to ‘best bloom in garden’, as well as plenty of classes for children to enter, there’s something for everyone! Made some masks or bunting from old shirts? That’s a perfect entry for “something new from something old”! I’ve even added banana bread as a new category, given it was a 2020 favourite!
The Show isn’t just for people who consider themselves horticulturalists or potential Bake Off contestants: even if you’ve just grown a single tomato plant on the windowsill or have a few apples you can pick from a tree in your garden (and don’t know the variety of either!), you stand a chance of a prize, so pick up a schedule and put your entry form in. It’s even an excuse to nurture a ‘spectacular weed’!
There are plenty of categories for children to enter too, ideal for activities for the school holidays or wet weekends, or for finding a final use for some of the artwork that comes home at the end of term.
Schedules are available from Virginia Water Library, or email the Show Secretary: email@example.com.
