Sumer Of Love

Fit over Fifty - a not-for-profit social enterprise community company based in Stalybridge - has been awarded £325 to host an event in the town. Fit over Fifty provides services to older people including reminiscence sessions, an assisted shopping service, domestic support, a companion service and exercise classes with social gatherings.

The free event in Stalybridge will aim to remember the culture from the swinging 60’s - specifically 1966 and 1967 and the summer of love. It will feature music, provided by Real Rock Radio , fancy dress, food and drink. It will take place at the Old Thirteenth Cheshire Astley Volunteer Rifleman Pub Staybridge on Sat August 20 from 12 am till and everyone is welcome

Tony the manager from Fit over Fifty said: This event aims, boost community engagement and guests will be able to take a trip down memory lane with memorabilia, music, archive footage and everyday objects and fancy dress from the era will also be paraded

Also at the event will be a Greater Manchester’s transport heritage bus from the 1960s, where by you see what the bus transport looked like in 1966-67 to help re live those days of flares trousers and the groovy sounds
