Speakeasy Bootleg Band @ The Caledonia
It's 4th August, the eighth month of the year in both the Julian and Gregorian calendars and the fifth of seven months to have the length of 31 days. It is also 329th anniversary of the discovery of Champagne and the 66th anniversary of Elvis Presley releasing Hound dog while on 4th Aug 2019 French inventor Franky Zapata crossed the English Channel on a hoverboard...... I guess much champagne was quaffed on his arrival.
So what's all this got to do with Speakeasy Bootleg Band? I hear you ask..... Not a lot really, apart from that it's the 4th of Aug when we next come flying into Liverpool's iconic Caledonia (L7 7DX) for our monthly session of fun, frolics and musical Bogsnorkelling. As well as superb music, the beer's brilliant too ..... and the food's a legend in its own lunchtime. So bring your hound dogs and hover your way to the Cali, have your tea, drink your way along the bar and round things off with a liberal helping of the Finest Quality Bootleg Music Since Records Began.......... Did I also mention that it's Louis Armstrong's 121st birthday? we'll no doubt be playing a few of his tunes as well.
There's loads of floor space, so turn up in droves, dance away your blues and ram the place to the doors ....... It's a tall ceiling so you can stand on each other's shoulders, jump up and down, sing, shout, drink beer (Champagne if you like) and Fill Yer Boots. We kick off about 9PM and play until the last hoverboard conks out .....
