The Laefer Quartet is widely regarded as one of the most exciting and dynamic saxophone quartets currently performing in the UK.
Known for their ‘mercurially brilliant playing’, The Laefer Quartet present a varied and diverse programme exploring the saxophone quartet from the earliest piece written for the quartet formation by Belgian composer Singelée, right up to the present day with South African composer Clare Loveday and the American composer David Maslanka. Maslanka was heavily influenced by J.S. Bach and this is evident in his beautiful and exhilarating Recitation Book.
As well as original works for the instrument, the quartet will explore transcriptions of works by Stravinsky and Nyman which are brought to life by the vibrant and engaging colours of the saxophone quartet.
