All Saints Darfield - Open Days
Heritage Open Day: A building which has served the Parish since the 11th century. It shows its development over the centuries to meet the changing worshipping needs of the local community. The church tower will be open and bell-ringing demonstrations will take place. There has been a church on the site since Saxon times evidenced by the remains of a Saxon cross in the churchyard and several carved stones which have been re-used in the existing structure. Parts of the Norman building remain but with extensions made over the centuries. The interior has Jacobean box pews which are still in regular use. There are some good examples of Victorian and later stained glass with one being a memorial to those who returned from the Great War.
