Museum of Island History - Free Entry
Heritage Open Day: Free entry to the Museum of Island History on Thursday 15 September. The museum provides an Introduction to the history of the Island. The temporary exhibition explores the history of Newport with photographs, paintings and artefacts. From fossils to festivals the museum explores the history of the Isle of Wight. There is a small display of the latest archaeological finds discovered on the Island. Come and explore the Newport exhibition which displays many photographs of the town over the last 100 years. Also on display are 4 paintings from the Thomas Rowlandson collection which which depict the town in the 1790s. The museum is small but it introduces the 'big' history of the Isle of Wight.
