Heritage Open Day: Displays about local 'Astounding Invention' the Stannington Barlow Pocket knife and cutlery manufacture in the area. Knifemaker Steven Cocker will show his work and talk about using traditional methods to create his knives to the original design. The chapel, built in 1743, was the first place of worship in Stannington. It will feature displays about its history and the formation of the congregation in 1652 following the Reformation and the start of non-conformist worship. On display are the stories of the men from Underbank who died in WWI and the organ, installed in 1921 as a memorial to them, which may be played periodically by our organists. There are two WWI Commonwealth War Graves in our graveyard.
