Roman Alcester Museum

Heritage Open Day: Alcester’s Roman Museum has artefacts that illustrate the economic and social diversity of Roman small town life over several centuries. Roman Alcester Museum displays Roman artefacts (including pottery, coins, jewellery, gemstones, bottles & glassware) that have been found within the town & visitors can come and find out what life was like there in Roman times between the 1st and 4th centuries AD. These artefacts have been discovered from over 100 archaeological excavations, spanning the last 100+ years and include a mortarium thought to be nearly 2000 years old, plus a very impressive Samian Ware collection. There will be specially run children's activities, photo opportunities with our very own Roman soldier, plus the chance to dress in Roman costumes & to handle Roman pottery & other artefacts. On Saturday 10th September only, one of our Roman history experts will give a guided tour of the Museum at 1400.
Sat 10 Sep:1030-1530. Sun 11 Sep:1200-1600. Free Entry.
