Rotherham Chapel on the Bridge
Heritage Open Day: Visit our 15th century chapel, which has served as a chapel, an almshouse, a jail, a tobacconist, and a capel once again. The story of the chapel is in its stained glass window added in 1975 designed by Alan Younger. The walls bear the marks of Musket and cannonballs from the English Civil War in 1643 where Royalists met 'spirited resistance' for the battle on the bridge. A tour of the crypt/jail is also available and the old cell doors are on show.
Sat 17 Sep:1030-1400. Free Entry.
