Wimbledon Symphony Orchestra: “Rachmaninov, Ravel, & Vaughan Williams”

WSO opens their 2022.23 season with a nod to Ralph Vaughan Williams’ recently celebrated sesquicentennial, opening with the Overture from his symphonic suite “The Wasps” and concluding with his Symphony No. 2, “A London Symphony”.

Sandwiched between these two works by Vaughan Williams are Rachmaninov’s tone poem The Isle of the Dead, Op. 21, as well as Ravel’s song cycle “Schéhérazade” featuring Elizabeth Karani, soprano.
