Joanna MacGregor plays Brahms First Piano Concerto
St John's Cahamber Orchestra is delighetd to welcome back international pianist Joanna MacGregor to perform one of the greatest of all concertos - Brahms' First Piano Concerto.
Joanna MacGregor CBE is one of the world’s most innovative musicians, appearing as a concert pianist, curator and conductor. Head of Piano at the Royal Academy of Music and Professor of University of London, as a solo artist Joanna has performed in over eighty countries and appeared with many eminent conductors – Pierre Boulez, Sir Colin Davis, Valery Gergiev, Sir Simon Rattle and Michael Tilson Thomas amongst them – and orchestras, including the London Symphony and Sydney Symphony orchestras, Chicago, Melbourne and Oslo Philharmonic orchestras, Berlin Symphony Orchestra and Salzburg Camerata.
The concert opens with a rarely heard Mozart overtutre - The Impresario, and includes the next in the orchestra's complete Beethoven Symphony Cycle - No.8.
Norden Farm Centre for the Arts is completely accessible with a free car park, and the Cafe Bar serves light meals and a wide range of drinks.
