Kensington Symphony Orchestra performs Berlioz, Blacher and Brahms

Kensington Symphony Orchestra’s 2022/23 season continues with Russell Keable conducting a performance of Brahms’s sunny, lyrical Symphony No.2 (1877).

The programme opens with Berlioz’s Le roi Lear (1831) - an epic overture in the composer's inimitable style, based on Shakespeare's play. And KSO will also perform Concertante Musik (1937) by the German composer Boris Blacher (1903-75) - a piece of jazzy, exuberant brilliance.

Described as “one of the very best amateur groups in the country” by Classical Music magazine, KSO has been hailed by Classical Source for “putting on bold, adventurous programmes that few of the ‘big five’ in London would either think of or get away with”.
