Brackley Jubilee Choir - A CELEBRATION OF SACRED MUSIC for EASTER!!

On Saturday 1st April 2023 @ 7.30pm, a Concert at St Peter’s Church, Brackley, to feature The Crucifixion written by Sir John Stainer, supported by a programme of Easter Anthems from various well known composers.

The first performance of Sir John Stainer’s, The Crucifixion, took place at St Marylebone Church on 24 February 1887, It was written as a Meditation on the Sacred Passion of the Holy Redeemer, and continues to be a popular Easter oratorio with Organ accompaniment to include Choral, Soloists and Congregational participation.

It is widely acknowledged that The Crucifixion has moments of true beauty and is testimony to Stanier’s significant choral writing skill, including “God so loved the world” – which is often sung as a stand-alone anthem.

Chair of Brackley Jubilee Choir, Auriel Warwick said: “Our full programme is structured to include Easter hymns and Anthems to which the congregation is invited to join in. We believe that this makes for a feeling of everyone being a part of something greater than day-to-day matters – and something to which music makes such a meaningful contribution…………

Brackley Jubilee Choir has been part of Brackley’s cultural life for the past 45 years and we are looking forward to welcoming both regular and new audience members from the growing Brackley and District community for this Easter Celebration concert.”
Saturday 1st April 2023, Commencing @ 7.30pm, at St Peter’s Church, Brackley. Tickets are £12.00 and will be available at the door of the Church on the evening of the event.
