The Hard Way - the story of Hannah Mitchell
Coming to the Glossop Labour Club on Saturday 26 November, the story of Hannah Mitchell, told by Louise Jordan through song and storytelling.
Hannah was born in 1872 at Alport Castles Farm, and left home at the age of 14 and walked over the hills to Glossop where she became an apprentice seamstress. From this inauspicous start, with little formal schooling, she educated herself, became active in the Independent Labour Party and the Womens Suffrage movement, eventually being elected to Manchester City Council and becoming a magistrate.
