Ceremony of Carols

Ceremony of Carols
Saturday 17th December from 7 pm

The Ceremony of Carols is one of Britten’s best-known and most-performed works. It is a brilliantly conceived and dramatic concert work which sees the voices process to their places singing unaccompanied plainsong and, at the end, processing out again to the same chant.

The choirs are privileged to be performing in London's oldest Parish Church, St Bartholomew the Gret, Cloth Fair. Southend Girls' Choir will be performing Britten's Ceremony of Carols along with Chorus Sirenum and some alumni members of the choirs. Southend Boys' Choir and the Young Men's Chorus will be joining in other festive pieces of music throughout the evening.

Conducted by Roger Humphrey
Accompanied by Rosemary Pennington
Harp Accompaniment by Meriel Barclay
