The Bedworth Seed Swap

Do you grow your own vegetables/salads/flowers? Well, this event will be of interest to you!

The Bedworth Seed Swap offers an opportunity for gardeners and growers alike, to come and exchange their surplus or unwanted seeds for something different - maybe even something a little unusual?

Supported by The Heritage Seed Library and Tamar Organics, there will be a wide range of open-pollinated seeds to initially choose from - with that choice evolving as those seed swaps take place. This year, we also welcome The Heart of England Organic Group (HEOG) who plan on bringing a range of seed potatoes for sale at the event.

Seed saving and swap events are great for maintaining/increasing local plant biodiversity and preventing some plant varieties from decline. In addition, as the cost of living continues to rise, a seed swap is a great way to save money - swap the seeds you don't want for some that you do! If you don't have any seeds to swap, then we only ask for a suggested donation of just 50p per packet - and, we're keeping our entrance fee fixed at £1.00 per person, just to cover room hire and insurance.

If you do have seeds you wish to swap, please package them in a suitable envelope and write a little detail about them - what variety they are, when were they harvested. etc - the kind of information that YOU would like to know yourself. Please avoid bringing seed saved from shop-bought produce, or any seed harvested from a known F1-hybrid variety, as that seed may not grow true to type, and may lead to disappointment for the grower.

The Bedworth Seed Swap is a not-for-profit community group, run by keen volunteers to promote seed saving, to maintain & improve local plant bio-diversity, and to raise awareness of rare & heritage seed varieties.

If you wish to learn more about our group, then please visit our social media platforms on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
