Ilmington is an ancient hillside Cotswold village 2m from the Fosse Way with 2 good pubs. Start at Ilmington Manor (next to the Red Lion Pub); wander the 3 acre gardens with fish pond and then walk to the upper green to see Foxcote Hill's large gardens and Old Fox House. Next go up Grump St to Ravenscrofts large, sculpture filled, sloping vistas commanding the hilltop. Walk to nearby Frog Lane to view the cottage garden of Frog Orchard. Then go on to the Bevingtons many-chambered cottage garden at the bottom of Valanders Lane, by the church and manor ponds, and finally visit the Dower House in Back Street.
