Mela Guitar Quartet concert hosted by West Sussex Guitar Club
Mela Guitar Quartet formed in 2015 as graduates from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music . They quickly became International Guitar Festival young artists in 2015/2016.
They takes their name from the Sanskrit word for “Festival ” and their eclectic repertoire and energetic performance certainly lives up to this description.
Their ethos is to perform music from all periods , genres, and nationalities and to take their magic to a wider audience. During lockdown they engaged in many online concerts, demonstrating that music could still enrich peoples lives and connect communities together during a difficult time when we all felt isolated.
From Handel to Hendrix, Carmen to Brubeck and a truly ingenious performance of Rimsky Korsakov's “ Flight of the Bumble Bee ” they draw the audience into a colourful festival of sound.
