Experimental folk artist Richard Dawson is performing his seventh album at The Exchange Theatre.
The Newcastle based musician is touring his album The Ruby Chord, a record that embraces the complexities of augmented reality.
The lyrics to most of the record were conceived throughout the various Covid-19 lockdowns as the side effects of isolation affected millions. As tensions rose and people showed large amounts of altruism and selfishness, it was a time when the world was difficult to comprehend.
The album shakes off the limitations of so-called real life and delves headlong into a sci-fi world where human society has collapsed and morphed into something distinctly less solid. Richard explains: ‘So many of us are moving into these fantasy worlds… people construct their own world because this one is so flawed.’
