A true rock and roll artist. Kurt Max was raised on Venice Beach California during the turbulent 1960s and began creating rock art in the 1980s. After relocating to the North East Kurt continues to produce celebrity portraits.
As the son of a rock album designer and cartoonist, Kurt was exposed to a unique and creative childhood. Seeing how an idea is born of thin air and transforms into a finished product was magic for Kurt and helped inspire his love for art. By 1980 Kurt was already producing rock art himself and playing music professionally on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. More recently Kurt relocated to NE England where he now spends his time continuing to create new Rock Art Portraits and music. Being a rock fan, Kurt’s art enables him to feel closer to the excitement, joy and love for the performers.
Working mainly in charcoal, watercolour, pen and ink as well as digital editing, Kurt’s work is truly rock and roll.
The launch will be accompanied by Jonny Boyle’s Voodoo Gumbo.
