Hooke Farm has been transformed into a wildlife haven with bird boxes, bat caves, butterflies, and bee-friendly wildflower meadows. The landscaping project inc a series of ponds in a wetland area, orchard trees, and woodland planting all interlinked with mown paths through swaying grass. There are standing stones, a stilted henhouse, a giant throne, and driftwood stags.
Locally sourced lunch, cream teas, ice-creams & refreshments throughout both days.
There will be Stalls, Talks and/or Tours including:
- The Dorset Wildlife Trust: Hosting a stall with information on wildlife and conservation in Dorset
- Bee Happy Plants & Seeds: Selling plants, seeds and books etc
- Bumblebee Conservation Trust: Giving bee tours
- The Great Big Dorset Hedge: Talking about their campaign to survey, map, plant, expand and join up hedgerows across Dorset
- Dorset Mammal Group: Stall explaining their working for mammals in Dorset
- Colin Varndell: Exhibiting and talking about his wildlife photography
- Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust: A stall and reptile tours
- Stone carver, Tom Clark: Talking about the building the bat egg
- Butterfly Conservation: Helping with moth trapping and showing what they’ve found
On Saturday night there will be a moth and bat tour. Visitors to arrive at 9pm for food and talks followed by the tour. See www.juliahailes.com for further details.
